Do high school kids get nervous at all? Wesleyan's girls are laughing and joking like it's a pickup game, and Paideia's team seems relaxed as well. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that these teams are both known quantities to each other. The 6-AA region opponents met once in the regular season, with Wesleyan winning 58-45.
I haven't seen her play yet, but Wesleyan's Anne Marie Armstrong looks like a player. She'll be the tallest girl on the court at 6-foot-3, and her long arms will give her an even more decided advantage.
Do Cher and basketball mix? I don't remember ever listening to "Life After Love" before a big game, but maybe it works for some people. It's blasting over the Centreplex speakers right now...
As editor of Score Prep DeKalb, perhaps I should have had Paideia's team more on my radar screen. They seemed to go unnoticed for a lot of the season, despite all their losses being to top-notch basketball teams. The Lady Pythons lost by three in the first game of the season to Mundy's Mill, one of the better 5A teams.
We're about three minutes away from tip-off, and I'll pick up there next...
